Ingredients: (Serves: 4)
- Whole wheat flour: 2 cups
- Water: 3/4 cup (adjust as needed)
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Ghee or oil: 3 tablespoons
- All-purpose flour: 2 tablespoons (for dusting, optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour and salt. Add water gradually and knead into a soft, smooth dough. Cover and rest for 15–20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
- Take one dough ball and roll it into a very thin circle using a little dry flour if needed.
- Spread ghee or oil evenly over the rolled dough.
- Using a knife or pizza cutter, make straight cuts from the top to the edge, creating thin strips without cutting the topmost edge.
- Starting from the outer edge, gather the cut strips gently and roll them inward toward the center to form a loose coil. Tuck the end underneath.
- Press the coil lightly and roll gently into a medium-thick paratha, keeping the layers intact.
- Heat a tawa over medium heat. Place the paratha on the hot tawa and cook until light brown spots appear. Flip, apply ghee or oil, and cook the other side until golden and crisp. Press lightly while cooking.
- Repeat with remaining dough balls.
