Ingredients   (Serves – 3)

  • Maize flour (makki ka atta) – 250 grams.                             
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon.
  • Warm water – as needed (for kneading).
  • Ghee or butter – 30 grams (for serving).
  • Dry flour – as needed (for dusting or shaping).

 

Method

  • In a large mixing bowl, add maize flour and salt.
  • Gradually add warm water and mix with your fingers.
  • Knead into a soft but slightly coarse dough.
  • Cover and let the dough rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into equal-sized portions.
  • Take one portion and place it between two sheets of plastic or parchment paper.
  • Gently press and flatten using your palms or roll it out slowly into a round roti about 5 to 6 inches wide.
  • Heat a tawa or griddle on medium heat.
  • Carefully transfer the roti onto the hot tawa.
  • Cook for 30 to 40 seconds and flip.
  • Cook the other side, pressing gently with a spatula.
  • Flip again and cook until both sides are golden with light brown spots.
  • Apply ghee or butter before serving.
  • Repeat with the remaining dough.
