Pakora                                                                                                  

 

Ingredients:(Serves – 4)             

  • Chickpea flour (besan) – 1 cup
  • Vegetables (onion, potato, cauliflower, spinach, or mix) – 2 cups, thinly sliced or chopped                       
  • Green chili – 1, finely chopped (optional)
  • Ginger – 1 tsp, grated
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Carom seeds (ajwain) – ½ tsp (optional)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – as needed to make batter
  • Oil – for deep frying

 

Method:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, cumin seeds, ajwain, chopped green chili, grated ginger, and salt.
  • Gradually add water to form a thick, smooth batter.
  • Add the sliced or chopped vegetables to the batter and mix until they are well coated.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the batter-coated vegetables into hot oil. Fry on medium heat until golden brown and crisp.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup.
