Chili Tofu Vegan

Ingredients  (Serves – 4)

  • Firm Tofu – 400 Gms, Cubed.
  • Cornflour – 3 Tbsp.
  • All Purpose Flour – 2 Tbsp.                                       
  • Black Pepper Powder – 1/2 Tsp.                            
  • Salt – To Taste.
  • Oil – 3 Tbsp.
  • Onion – 1 Large, Cubed.
  • Capsicum – 1 Large, Cubed.
  • Green Chillies – 2, Slit.
  • Garlic – 5 Cloves, Finely Chopped.
  • Ginger – 1 Tbsp, Finely Chopped.
  • Spring Onion Greens – 2 Tbsp, Chopped.

 

For The Sauce

  • Soy Sauce – 2 Tbsp.
  • Red Chilli Sauce – 1 Tbsp.
  • Tomato Ketchup – 1 Tbsp.
  • Vinegar – 1 Tsp.
  • Cornflour Slurry – 1 Tbsp Cornflour Mixed With 3 Tbsp Water.
  • Water – 1/2 Cup.

 

Method

  • Press The Tofu Gently To Remove Excess Moisture And Cut Into Medium Cubes.
  • In A Bowl, Mix Cornflour, All Purpose Flour, Black Pepper Powder, And Salt.
  • Coat The Tofu Cubes Evenly In The Flour Mixture.
  • Heat Oil In A Pan And Shallow Fry The Tofu Until Crisp And Golden On All Sides.
  • Remove The Fried Tofu And Set Aside.
  • In The Same Pan, Add Garlic, Ginger, Green Chillies, Onion, And Capsicum.
  • Stir Fry On High Heat For 2–3 Minutes Until Slightly Crunchy.
  • In A Small Bowl, Combine Soy Sauce, Red Chilli Sauce, Tomato Ketchup, Vinegar, And Water.
  • Pour The Sauce Mixture Into The Pan And Bring To A Gentle Simmer.
  • Add The Cornflour Slurry And Stir Continuously Until The Sauce Thickens Slightly.
  • Add The Fried Tofu And Toss Well Until Fully Coated In The Sauce.
  • Garnish With Spring Onion Greens And Serve Hot With Fried Rice Or Noodles.

 

Prep Time – 15 mins.                Cook Time – 20 mins.                      Total Time – 35 mins.
